Kevin Schmidt is a Vancouver artist who draws pictures of people trying to get into wetsuits and then transfers them onto surfboards. He also dragged a Marshall stack and a generator out onto Long Beach so he could play Stairway To Heaven amongst the sand and sea. He calls it art. We just think it rocks. Below are some of his finer works committed to MP3. We had Kevin write a blurb or two about each. Check them out - they're gems. And yes ladies, he's single.
drinking water from a faucet (4.9 MB)
For the longest time when i played this song there were no lyrics. i would just mutter nonsense syllables to various melodies. i didn't finish the lyrics until seconds before i was to record the vocal tracks in the studio. I still think that the song works better when i don't know what i am saying.
airperson (5.5 MB)
Someday i hope to live in a penthouse. probably won't happen. Million Year Picnic was attempting to mix Simon and Garfunkle, The Smiths, and The Police. Jeremy Wood played bass, and David Moran played drums.
wadine (6.5 MB)
Kim from Magic Ass works for an internet company that searches for heirs. She told us all to write a song entitled "get off the phone wadine" about someone she was trying to contact for work. I filled in the details.
heavy metal music (6.2 MB)
I finally decided that seeing as I can't keep my mouth shut about my train wreck life, I might as well put the embarrasment to music.
run to you (8.7 MB) Recorded music is all about production. This is the first in a series of dumb rock songs made to sound cool and sad. Transformer is me, dave cheong, and julian carnrite.
